A drinks
reception in the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Duncan Sandys’, private
office and meeting rooms at the top of Westminster City Hall, with
stunning view over London’s cityscape, was the back drop for the
Inter Club’s first charitable event since its conception six years
ago.
Partnering up
with the Lord Mayor’s charity,
the St
Andrew’s Club, a youth
club based in Victoria which does sterling work with young people
from south Westminster, the eighty or so Inter Club members in
attendance managed to raise over a thousand pounds to benefit the
charity.
guests were welcomed to The event by the Lord Mayor, with a witty speech offering
an insightful glimpse into what his role comprises at the start of
the evening and a guided tour of the plate room, which hosts
Westminster Council’s many treasures, at the end. Such was the
succeess of the event, the Committee will be looking at this
experience to see whether there are further opportunities in the
future to support appropriate charities.
A
great thanks must go to the Lord Mayor himself for hosting us and
the Army and Navy Club, in particular Gavin Peake-Jones who brought
about the concept of a charity event to fruition and the Club’s
events secretariat who handled all the admin for the night.
