Lunch in Paris at the Cercle de L'Union Interalliée

14th October 2006
Hosted at the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée, Paris, France

On Saturday morning over 20 members of the participating Clubs in the Younger Members' Inter-Club Group and their guests set off from London, Belgium and Holland to meet for lunch in Paris. Yes, that's right ... we were going to Paris for lunch!
Despite this being an ambitious plan, we all managed to assembled at 12.45pm on the terrace of Cercle de l'Union Interalliée (well one guest forgot his passport but after a quick trip home managed to arrive only 30 minutes late) and sipped Kir Royale in the October sunshine.
L'Union Interalliée, which is located right in the heart of Paris, is a magnificent Club in the high French style and lunch was served in the Salon Duc de Luynes replete with ornate clocks, wall length tapestries and a ceiling fresco.
In such surroundings we enjoyed foie gras and farm raised rabbit in a pistachio Riesling jelly, saddle of lamb stuffed Provençal style and a mouth watering pistachio and Guanaja chocolate vacherin.
It was then back to the terrace for coffee (not to mention the odd bottle of wine) and a few tours of the extensive garden in order to aid digestion.
By 4pm we all agreed that it had been a lunch to remember and, after posing for a team photo, some of us headed home whilst others disappeared off into Paris for an autumn mini break.
