The Fourth Annual Inter-Club Quiz

Monday 9 June 2008
Hosted by The Savage Club - Whitehall Place, London, SW1A 2HE

Three years ago the Inter-Club Group held its first event. The Committee decided that a Quiz would be a good way of bringing all the Clubs together and it certainly proved to be the case. The other day we held the fourth Inter-Club Quiz on the third birthday of the Inter-Club Group.

As the Savage Club won last year they had the privilege of hosting this year's Quiz. After welcoming us all for drinks in the Savage Club bar we moved through to the National Liberal Club for dinner and the Quiz. With 9 teams from 10 Clubs participating (we had a combined team from the Oriental and Farmers Clubs) competition was fierce to become the Brains of Club Land.

Philip Talbot, a distinguished member of the Savage Club, was a marvellous Quiz master who kept control of proceedings and his audience. Each round took its theme from the various genres that make up membership of the Savage Club. As such, we had everything from law (not that the lawyers found it easy) to music (live music played by brother Savages).

In true Inter-Club Quiz (and Eurovision) tradition it was neck and neck between three Clubs (National Liberal, Carlton and Savage) until the final two rounds when the Savages lived up to their musical pedigree and pulled ahead to win for the second year in a row! So ... next year we will go back to the Savage Club! They must really love hosting the Quiz.
