TENNIS TOURNAMENT AND BARBEQUE 2009

A sun soaked No.2 court at Queen’s Club was the setting for the first Inter Club Tennis Tournament Final in which Paul Rodgers (Caledonian Club) and Dave Supperstone (Guest of a Queen’s Club Member) were victorious over Annabel Harding (The Queen’s Club) and Adam Cousins (Guest of a Lansdowne Member). A number of heats took place during the course of the morning and the early afternoon leading to this spectacle which was accompanied by an enthusiastic crowd fuelled with chilled Pimms.

Following the tennis, the players hit the showers before joining the spectators who had made their way on to terrace looking on to No.1 court which had been set up for lunch. A two course barbeque which was capped by more fresh strawberries and cream than could be imagined finished off a perfect Summer Sunday.

A large thanks needs to be paid to Anthony Wagstaff of Queen’s Club, the Club’s staff and members who helped to put on an event which proved to be very popular. Given its success there may now be cause to introduce an annual Inter Club Tennis Classic at Queen’s as part of the annual calendar!
